Australia is a big country. The US is only a little bigger.
Just to put thing in proper perspective here's a list of the southern cities on our itinerary
and their northern hemisphere counterparts as measured from the equator.
Auckland New Zealand is as far south of the equator as Louisville, KY is north of the equator
Wellington, New Zealand Chicago, IL
Christchurch, New Zealand Minneapolis, MN
Dunedin, New Zealand Seattle, WA
Hobart, Tasmania, Australia Detroit, MI
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Washington DC
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Atlanta, GA
Cairns, Queensland, Australia St. John, Antigua
There is no US city that close to the equator.
Uluru, North Australia Miami, FL
Don't equate the weather of the Southern Hemisphere and Northern Hemisphere counter parts
as they are completly different!
